Weeks ago, when visiting my mother, we went for a walk at the park/mill pond across the street. We saw turtles sunning themselves and a frog, and a snake that lay across the path, so lazy (or cold) that it didn't respond to the lady in front of us who nearly tripped over it.  Last night I heard a falling water sound as I sat in bed, but no one was in the bathroom. (I could see in.) Besides it didn't sound like water on a hard surface or water on water, so I concentrated on what my daughter was saying. I heard about a recent wedding that was outdoors (or the reception was) and the couple had tents put up on the lawn a ways from the celebration so couples could sneak away (my head added “in twos and threes” and my muse grinned).  I saw pictures of Detroit the other day: empty sky scrapers, windowless buildings, vacant streets, etc. and that reminded me of what the English colonists found when they arrived in the New World: Villages emptied of people due to the ravages of smallpox and other diseases caught from fisherman and explorers from Europe.

I didn’t get a lot written last week and as I looked over the unposted chapters of Harmonies, I realized why. Have I put in too much sex? I met a man the other day in the PT waiting room, who made me want to write someone like him. He was in his early twenties, maybe, but he spoke like he was comfortable with himself in a way you don’t often see in the young.
